High-end estate agency bows to industry pressure and cuts ties with Russia

JLL has announced that it is going ‘to separate its domestic operations in Russia’.

The company was under growing industry pressure to cut ties with Russia following the attack on Ukraine.

Savills, Knight Frank, Avison Young, CBRE, and Colliers all announced last week that they were cutting links to their Russian partners, but JLL did not follow suit – until now.

JLL issued this statement: “The continued attacks from Russia on Ukraine are horrendous and have no place in the world.

“It is with great sadness that we have taken the difficult decision to separate our domestic operations in Russia. We continue to support a small number of multinational clients with their transition strategies.

“Guided by our values, our main priority has always been to support our colleagues in Ukraine whose lives are in grave danger.  We also have a responsibility to our people in Russia, who face turmoil and upheaval. The painful reality for our colleagues in Ukraine and Russia is unimaginable suffering and we deeply regret the impact on their lives and are doing everything we can to help them.

“We have been overwhelmed by the selfless acts of compassion from the global JLL family. In particular, we recognize our people in Poland and across Central Europe who have shown extraordinary care to the thousands forced to leave Ukraine by providing shelter, food and other essential goods.

“JLL has launched a global program to match donations from employees, directing much needed funds to charities and NGOs in support of relief efforts across the region.

“We hope for an immediate return to peace.

“Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine, our colleagues in Russia and all those impacted by this tragedy.”

      Morals before profit.

There are no morals here Russian investors will be stopped.

      An empty gesture.
