Foxtons has this morning announced that Peter Rollings has rejoined the company as a non-executive director with effect from 1 December 2021.
Rollings will be a member of the Audit Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination Committee from the date of his appointment.
Rollings was a former managing director of Foxtons, from 1997 to 2005, before becoming CEO of Marsh & Parsons in 2005 – he remained in the position until 2016.
Rollings said: “I am delighted to be re-joining Foxtons, a business which gave me my first opportunity in estate agency and where I worked in the formative years of my career. It is an exciting time in the industry and Foxtons, with its powerful brand and strong service culture, is well placed for success. I look forward to playing a role in its growth and development.”
Nigel Rich, chairman of Foxtons, commented: “Peter’s career began at Foxtons in December 1985 and during his 20-year tenure he made a significant contribution to both the growth and dynamics of the business. He then enjoyed a successful career at Marsh & Parsons where he presided over significant expansion and value creation as CEO.
“He knows both Foxtons and the industry extremely well, making him an important and valuable addition to the Board as we look to accelerate growth. My colleagues and I are delighted that Peter is re-joining Foxtons and look forward to working with him.”

I love Pistol Pete. He was a man of his time. Unfortunately its the same old talking heads that keep taking leading roles in the industry. We will keep regurgitating the same old practices. There is something to be said for experience, but not when its just experiencing the same year over and over again!
The industry looks like it is walking a path it last walked in 1988 and 1989. Many of those who survived as business owners, partners and directors then have now retired so to have Mr. Rolling’s experience and hindsight available to Foxtons is very significant indeed.

There’s not a business in the land that wouldn’t benefit from that man’s expertise. When added with his increased experience now and clearly his fondness for the company where it all started I suspect this will be far more hands on than the many non exec roles that businesses opt for.
Win win for both of them.
