Complaint about property listing resolved by advertising watchdog

A complaint about a property listing has been resolved informally by the advertising watchdog.

A member of the public made a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority about an advert for a property on the Reeds Rain website.

The ad was also on Rightmove.

The banner headline for the property described it as a ‘four bedroom property’ in the ad, but the details beneath only identified, and explained the features of, three bedrooms.

The complaint was about First Complete, the mortgage network belonging to Reeds Rains’ parent company LSL.

A spokesperson for the ASA said: “We contacted the advertiser and they explained this was due to human error and they amended the ad immediately.
“We believed no further action was necessary and closed the case on an informal basis.”

Perhaps Reeds Rain ought to put in place better controls and actually check the details before advertising properties (don’t we all do this anyway, PMA springs to mind??), then things like this wouldn’t happen #justsaying
