Today we have launched some exciting changes to EYE.
When we began publishing in March of 2014 we had every confidence that EYE would be a success – but we really did not anticipate just how quickly the industry would take us to its heart and make us so popular.
We are very grateful to our readers and contributors and of course to the many clients who choose EYE as their preferred media for their marketing campaigns.
Our strapline ‘Where news comes first’ is at the heart of what we do on EYE.
It goes hand-in-hand with presenting the news to readers in a clear, easy-to-read format. Anything we do to the design of EYE has that aim in mind.
So the design changes you will see on the site today are very much about ‘evolution’ rather than ‘revolution’.
Some of you may even look and say ‘I know something has changed but I’m not sure what…’
That said, we do hope you will approve of the new layout and that you will feed back to us your views on it. You should find the pages easier to navigate and the layout of the home page to be more interesting and much more user-friendly.
The design change is only part of what we are doing as we are also rolling out new sections in EYE that will be of great value to our clients and readers.
We are delighted that after several months of planning we are now able to launch our new Recruitment section which is already stacked with hundreds of property industry vacancies from some of the leading companies in the field. Straightaway it is the ‘Go To’ place to seek out and to advertise property industry jobs.
We also have an Advertising Features section where you can read in-depth about companies which provide products that are of value and benefit to you and your firms.
We are delighted that our good friends at Fixflo are our inaugural feature. They have been a client of EYE almost from the start and we really enjoy being an element of their extraordinary growth and success.
And we also now have a Classified section where you can quickly find the contact details for a wide range of industry suppliers.
There’s more coming and we think you are going to really like what you see. The way that you can interact with EYE and with your colleagues is about to get very exciting indeed!
Finally, we are very pleased to welcome two new regular contributors to the EYE editorial team.
Christopher Hamer will be known to all our readers as the former Property Ombudsman and remains a hugely important and influential figure in the industry.
Josh Rayner is head of Rayner Personnel and has wide-ranging experience of the property industry and his first blog appears tomorrow.
We know that you will enjoy the articles that they write for us.
Stand by for more information in the very near future.
Looks very smart and a lot easier on the eye. Well done.

All we need now is the ability to add photographs. plus the option of sending a small electrical charge to posters we don’t like. Ouch, who did that? where is that button? Ouch, ouch, oouch!

Always liked the simplicity of the site, could never get on with the other sides offering (look/content) – just delete it straight away nowadays. As this site has grown/developed, it no doubt needed a new look/layout, and I am happy to say it retains what I like about it.

Lovely lay out – far better on IPad! As always, wishing you the very best of success keeping all of us updated on “what is happening out there…” Keep those stories rolling in!

Layout is fine – but is anyone else experiencing posting problems?
I’m having to leave the site and come back on before it will allow me to post anything.
I reckon Mr Mealham has requested for this to be built into my profile.
And probably several hundred other requests…

Love the ALT+F4 idea…
We are a long way towards solving the posting/reply issue. All should be working correctly now – except if you cancel a post/reply in which case you will have to refresh the page. That is being sorted out now.

Always nice to see a platform looks ahead in development. Top job. Just maybe it would be nice to see what industry, if at all, poster originate from. Part of the members “account process” for verification and shows after their name eg Woodentop – Estate agent.

This is much harder to read than the old site because the line length is too long.
There is a reason why books are two thirds the width of PIE’s new line length and why newspaper columns are about a quarter of the width. These line lengths are easier to read.

Thanks for this Tilly. We shall see if anyone else feels the line length is too long and then review whether we might alter it.
