Generation Rent says one in four letting agents not displaying fees

A new resource for tenants has been published on the Generation Rent website.

It is currently aimed at tenants moving to, or within, certain London boroughs – Croydon, Ealing, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.

However, other areas are set to be added. It is not clear whether these are in other London boroughs or elsewhere.

The new feature links to research done by volunteers in the existing areas who have compiled lists of local letting agents and the fees they charge tenants.

Generation Rent says that despite the legal requirement for agents to publish fees, in the areas so far covered a quarter have not done so.

It says there are volunteers in 13 other – unspecified – areas working on the project

It’s a shame Generation Rent have to do this at all. If government make laws, they should enforce them.

Couldn’t agree more. They have the powers and all it takes is for Miss Creesy to pick up the telephone.
